Judge Zilber was born and raised in Miami-Dade County, Florida. He has been married to his wife Cindi for 30 years. He has one son Michael, 27, (who is a young lawyer beginning his career at Carlton Fields) and a daughter Leigh, 24 (who is currently working in the fashion industry in NY). Judge Zilber received his B.A. from the University of Florida in 1984 and his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1988.
Judge Zilber began his legal career working as a certified legal intern in the Miami Dade County State Attorney’s Office. Shortly after, in 1989, went to work as in house General Counsel to several transportation and healthcare companies. He managed insurance litigation, labor law hearings, and represented his clients in front of several governmental and administrative bodies. In 1997, Judge Zilber became Vice-President of Mergers and Acquisitions for a publicly traded company (Coach U.S.A.), traveling throughout the United States negotiating private business acquisitions for the public entity. And from 2001-2013, Judge Zilber was of counsel and partner to Stolzenberg, Gelles & Zilber, and General Counsel and Partner to Avatar Reality, Yale Mortgage, and Lansdowne Mortgage. Judge Zilber was also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator.
Judge Zilber is an active member of our community having served as a Traffic Magistrate, Adjunct Professor at Miami Dade College and FIU, and as a member of the Jackson Hospital Public Health Trust. He is currently a board member / Judicial Director of the University of Miami School of Law.
Judge Zilber is currently a Circuit Court Judge for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit serving in the Civil Division. He previously served in the Juvenile and Criminal divisions.
